Diminished Value Appraisals

Diminished value is the loss in a vehicle’s market value after a collision. Even after repairs, buyers and dealers generally do not value a vehicle with accident history the same as a comparable vehicle without that history. CCSI develops an independent professional opinion and does not rely on one predetermined formula for every vehicle.

Two Diminished Value Report Options

Diminished Value Estimate Review — No Physical Inspection

Most assignments begin with a review of the final repair estimate and available records. CCSI may review vehicle details, mileage, options, repair cost, documented damage severity, structural operations listed on the estimate, parts and procedures, prior damage, certified-pre-owned eligibility, remaining warranty, market data, and photographs. This report does not claim that CCSI physically verified repair quality.

Diminished Value Inspection Report — Includes Vehicle Inspection

This option includes the documentation review plus a physical examination. Depending on the vehicle and damage, it may include paint-thickness measurements, panel-gap and alignment measurements, visual examination of repaired and adjacent areas, structural-repair review, parts and procedure verification when possible, identification of remaining damage, and photographic documentation.

When CCSI May Recommend a Post-Repair Inspection

An inspection may be recommended either because the estimate review raises concerns or because the customer reports ongoing issues after repairs. These concerns do not by themselves prove improper repairs or a major defect, but an independent inspection can document visible and reasonably accessible repair flaws, defects, and unresolved concerns.

  • Vehicle does not drive or handle as before
  • Warning lights or sensor messages
  • Unusual noises, vibration, wind noise, or water leaks
  • Uneven gaps, paint, or alignment concerns
  • Repeated returns to the repair facility
  • Concerns that remain unresolved
  • Questionable or incomplete repair operations

If significant repair-related issues are documented, the matter may be handled as a post-repair inspection case in addition to, or before completing, the diminished-value analysis. We separate inherent diminished value caused by collision history from any additional repair-related diminished value to provide a complete professional opinion.

Repair Quality

When physical inspection is performed, we assess the standard of workmanship and procedure fidelity.

Prior Damage & CPO Status
