Who Pays for a Pre-Purchase Inspection?

When you're considering a used vehicle, an independent pre-purchase inspection can give you extra clarity. Usually the buyer arranges and pays for that inspection. That’s the FTC’s baseline guidance. However, you can ask the dealer to participate. Some buyers propose that the dealer pay the fee, split it, or agree up front to reimburse it if the vehicle doesn't meet pre-agreed conditions. Any such arrangement is a business decision with the dealer and should be settled before the inspection. CCSI's pre-purchase inspection is collision focused. It looks for signs of prior collision damage or repairs in visible and reasonably accessible areas. It's not a mechanical or safety certification.
